Aizanoi is an ancient city located in the western part of modern-day Turkey. It was founded in the 3rd century BCE and was an important center of agriculture and commerce during the Roman period.
The Temple of Zeus at Aizanoi is considered to be one of the best-preserved ancient temples in Anatolia. The temple is believed to have been built in the 2nd century CE, and is constructed of local limestone and marble. The temple's cella (inner sanctuary) would have contained a statue of Zeus. It also features a number of inscriptions, including one that identifies the emperor Hadrian as a temple patron.
